I’m glad you’re here.

A little about me; after receiving my Master’s in Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014 I worked in homes and schools with individuals and families as an intensive in-home and in-school therapist. My desire to learn more about incorporating nature in therapy led me to my job with Open Sky Wilderness Therapy here in Durango. The healing power of nature has been significant in my own journey and a big reason I have been happy to call Durango my home, and my community, since 2016.  I became a licensed professional counselor in 2018.

I believe that success in therapy is all about trust and connection between therapist and the individual. My approach to counseling is client-centered, meaning that I believe each client has the ability to grow, heal, and find answers on their own, but can benefit from doing so in an accepting, understanding environment. I see myself as warm, gentle and authentic and believe in creating a safe and healing space to work through life’s challenges. I work from a collaborative, strength-based approach; assisting and supporting clients to be the author of their own lives. I am trained in and utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy and work within a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy framework, incorporating Dialectical Behavioral Therapy techniques, mindfulness-based techniques, creative based interventions, and Solution Focused therapy, depending on the client and their individual preferences.

I work with tweens/adolescents through young adults and have experience working with a variety of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, perfectionism, life transitions, parent-child conflict and trauma.

In my free time you can find me exploring the rivers, trails, and mountains of this area through snowboarding, trail running, river-running, mountain biking, and camping. I also enjoy throwing pottery, good music, and spending time with my goofy, very lovable pup, Willa.

My hope is that we can build a meaningful therapeutic relationship, in which you feel safe, heard and seen. It is an honor to be here for this part of your journey. Let’s see if we’re a good fit.

My office is located at 765 E. College Drive Unit #2. Please follow signs to Riversage Counseling from the parking lot. This office is not wheelchair accessible. I can accommodate individuals and/or families via telehealth or in-person.
