Liz Shackford, LCSW

,

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Colorado. I obtained my Master’s degree from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins. The program at CSU School of social work was unique in that the focus was on rural and transitional communities which fits with Durango culture. My previous experience began with providing wrap around services for Family Extensions/Lutheran Family Services which provide therapeutic services for foster parents, children, and adolescents in foster care. The goal of the agency was to provide a less restricted environment for children and adolescents.

My therapeutic focus is on client centered and solution based through Cognative Behavior Treatment (CBT). My experiences consist of working with parenting skills, child development, family and personal conflicts, stress and anger management. Additionally I am a Certified Advocate for sexually abused clients with the Sexual Assault Organization Services (SAOS) providing advocacy for residents in LaPlata County.

My outside interests fit with the Durango lifestyle. I am outgoing, encouraging and non-judgmental. If you are interested in working with me, please give me a call and we can discuss strategies.
