Many children, teens and adults struggle with relationships, emotional regulation and depression. Stress, life events and emotional and mental health challenges can feel burdensome and these challenges are hard to take on by yourself. I have been a child and adolescent counselor in the Durango area since 2001 and I enjoy helping others discover their strengths and reach their goals. I love partnering with my Registered Therapy Dog, Rio and my horses for experiential learning and psychotherapy.

I moved to Durango in 1988 to attend FLC. I have my masters in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado and an Equine Assisted Mental Health certificate from the University of Denver. My specialties include solution focused, cognitive behavioral therapy and animal/equine assisted psychotherapy. I have experience with the neurobiology of trauma, attachment, and self-regulation and have 20 years of experience working in the school system focusing on skills for social, emotional and academic success.

I have a passion for combining horses and counseling and have years of experience working with individuals, school groups, the courts and adult leadership programs. My love for horses and counseling has proven to be an amazing combination for helping others find confidence, trust, self-esteem, goal setting, etc.

I love to spend my free time riding my horses, biking, camping and rafting with my husband! If you would like to learn more about me and what I can offer, please reach out and we can see if we are a good fit!
